About 5 thousand people have been evacuated from the Faculty of Dentistry

Six people were transferred this Tuesday to different health centers in Buenos Aires due to the effects of gas inhalation and 18 others were helped at the door of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), located in the Buenos Aires district of Recoleta. , after nearly 5,000 students and teachers self-evacuated due to leaking fluid, police and health sources reported.

The dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Pablo Rodríguez, confirmed that “there was a mechanical failure of a master gas switch on the sixth floor, but I want to clarify that the buildings in the entire block were remodeled eleven years ago by the University. belonging to the faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry”.

“When the teachers found out, we evacuated the building, we gave the order to the sixth floor and then the rest, but it was resolved very quietly, there is a good protocol and the stairs are wide.”Rodríguez told the TN television channel.

The technical department of the faculty, according to the authority, has found the leak and closed the faucet, while “Firefighter personnel are at work and the same personnel are helping people, but there is nothing serious.”

According to the head of SAME, Alberto Crescenti, “Health personnel treated a total of 18 people, 16 women and 2 men, with dizziness and headache and we evacuated about 5 thousand people”.

The health personnel confirmed that there were six affected people, who had to be transferred to different health centers after confirming “that they are not in danger and are under observation, because they are still dizzy”.

Around 9:41 a.m., a 911 call reported a gas leak on the sixth floor of the Faculty of Dentistry located at Marcelo Torcuato de Alvear 2142, police personnel informed Télam.

At around 10:30, the fire brigade arrived at the scene as a preventive measure to verify the conditions of the building together with the workers of the Metrogas company.
