Amazon has introduced the new generation of models artificial intelligence (AI) Nova, consisting of five models – three for processing or understanding and two for generating creative content such as images, text and video -, which are now available on Amazon Bedrock.
The company announced these developments as part of its annual AWS re:Invent event, which kicked off last Monday, showcasing the tech company’s latest work in AI-generating “machine learning” and IT environments.

Among the most notable features of its presentation is the ecosystem of basic Nova models (FM), which have the ability to process text, images and video, as well as understand graphics and other multimedia content.
Amazon Nova brings together five models, three for understanding and two for content generation, and all are now available on the platform for developers of AI-generating applications with the basic Amazon Bedrock models, as advanced by the technology firm.
The Amazon Nova Micro is a text-only model that offers lower latency response at a lower cost, while the Amazon Nova Lite has greater readiness for image processing, video, and text input.
On the other hand, the Amazon Nova Pro is presented as a very capable multimodal model that combines accuracy and speed for a wide range of tasks. Nova Canvas and Nova Reel are next-generation image and video generation models, respectively.
Finally, Amazon has acknowledged that the Nova Premier is the “most capable” multimodal model of all, and that it’s meant for complex reasoning tasks. Likewise, it can be used to guide the development of custom models, a feature that will arrive in the first quarter of 2025.

All models support a wide range of tasks in 200 languages - although they are optimized for English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Korean, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Hindi, Dutch and Turkish, among others – and multiple modes . They can also be adjusted based on a range of preferences so that they “learn what matters most to customers from their data (including text, images and videos), while Amazon Bedrock trains a personalized model that will provide personalized responses,” according to the statement.
The tech company has revealed that the new models “are designed to help both internal and external developers” as well as meet challenges in developing applications, according to the company’s Senior Vice President of General Artificial Intelligence. Amazon, Rohit Prasad.
He has also said that they aim to provide “compelling intelligence and content generation” and that they offer significant advancements in latency, gain and personalization.
Additionally, the Amazon Nova Micro, Amazon Nova Lite, and Amazon Nova Pro are at least 75 percent cheaper than the top-performing models in their respective intelligence classes on Amazon Bedrock.
The brand has also announced that it will introduce two new Amazon Nova models in 2025, which are a voice-to-speech model that will include voice input in natural language, interpreting verbal signals. and non-verbal; and a native multimodal, which will be able to process text, images, audio and video as input and output.
