Best Budget Electric Toothbrushes | Comparisons

Electric brush.
The five electric toothbrushes tested. COUNTRY SHOWCASE.

In this article, five affordable electric toothbrushes will be compared. Two of the most popular brands like Oral-B or Philips and three of the less popular brands like Seago, Homscam and Bitvae.

I have tooth sensitivity, an important characteristic to consider. In this sense, it is essential for me that these types of brushes do not cause pain or bleeding in the gums.

On the other hand, I will be able to test if they really remove more food debris and plaque than traditional toothbrushes, since I had a cleaning a few weeks ago and I have no tartar.

Why is it a winner?

This electric toothbrush is the winner of the comparison. For me it is comfortable, painless and easy to use. The vibration is adequate, so it does not damage or cause the gums to bleed.

Its design is ergonomic, although it is quite elongated and this can be a concern when storing the brush in the bathroom. It would be better to have a hood to protect the head. It comes equipped with eight heads, so you won’t have to buy a new one for almost two years.

It includes five different modes to choose from (white, clean, soft, polishing and gum care) and the pressure level is suitable in each of them. It includes a single button in the center with which it is very easy to change modes.

The battery is good. However, only the USB cable comes, you need an adapter (like the ones on your mobile phone) to connect it to a socket.

Oral-B electric toothbrush

This Oral-B toothbrush includes an ergonomic head and body. It vibrates every 30 seconds, but regardless of the washing area you are in. This feature is supposed to be useful if it actually alerts you to change zones. I don’t think it’s a comfortable function while brushing.

The round head is small and for me it is not very comfortable, as it does not fit my teeth very well. It does not include a cover, so the head is exposed. In addition, it has only one mode, so you cannot control the intensity of washing. During use I noticed pain, although no bleeding gums.

As for the battery, it is charged with a separate base, but does not indicate when it is fully charged. There is no sound or light of any kind. That way, you don’t know when there is a full battery. A function, in my opinion, to improve.

The special thing is that it has a timer so that you can spend a total of two minutes brushing your teeth. However, after two minutes the brush doesn’t turn off and is supposed to vibrate a bit more so you know you’ve exceeded that time. For me it is not a good way to control the washing time.

Philips electric toothbrush

I find the vibration of this electric toothbrush very strong and uncomfortable. It is not pleasant to brush your teeth with it.

The head is like that of a traditional brush and includes a plastic cap. The body is ergonomic and easy to handle.

You can’t adjust the intensity, although if you press too hard the pressure sensor activates and lowers the intensity.

As for the battery, when you plug it in there is a beep to let you know everything is ok. It includes an indicator that blinks while it is charging. It only comes equipped with a USB cable, so you need an adapter, like a mobile phone, to connect it to an outlet.

Seago electric toothbrush

This electric toothbrush includes eight heads in total of two different types. This is a big advantage, as you can change them for almost two years without having to buy new ones. In addition, it includes a plastic cover to protect the head.

However, in terms of vibration, I felt it was very weak. In fact, after I brushed my teeth, I noticed that the food residue wasn’t removed properly and I was left wanting to brush again.

It includes five different modes (white, clean, sensitive, polishing and massaging). You hardly feel the difference between each of them, although the last two are quite unpleasant, because the brush moves in intervals.

As for the battery, it includes a charging base and a USB cable. The adapter is not included and is needed to plug it into an outlet.

Homscam electric toothbrush

Overall, this toothbrush is quite similar to the previous one from Seago. For me it doesn’t clean enough and after brushing you feel like your teeth and mouth are not clean.

It includes five modes to choose from (sensitive, clean, white, massage and polish). The only difference with the previous model is that when it reaches two minutes, it turns off automatically.

In addition, it includes a special head for cleaning the face. However, it is not very effective. It also includes three heads and a plastic cap to protect the head.

It arrived without a battery, but once charged the duration is good. To connect it to an outlet you need an adapter like the one for the mobile phone, as only the USB cable comes.

What are the benefits of an electric toothbrush?

  • They reduce plaque or tartar more effectively than a traditional toothbrush.
  • After continuous use, they prevent inflammation of the gums.
  • Access to the most difficult areas of the mouth.
  • Greater hygiene as they better reach all the nooks and crannies of each tooth.

Which is better, an electric toothbrush or a sonic toothbrush?

At present it cannot be said that one is better than the other. The electric toothbrush works by rotating with vibration and the sonic brush generates faster vibrations. In this sense, both are effective in removing food residues and plaque.

How long does an electric toothbrush head last?

The toothbrush head should be replaced every three to four months. If we see that the bristles are worn before, it should be changed in less time. In this way we ensure that we have optimal cleaning every time we brush our teeth.

What is the ideal time to brush your teeth?

The recommended time is two minutes, as it is the right time in which we can eliminate all traces of food and bacterial plaque.
