Through an official letter sent by the General Secretary of the Attorney General, Ana María Velarde, she indicated that Pérez did not respect the regulation of the institutional spokesperson established by the current head of the Public Ministry.
He said that the document in question, issued with the Resolution of the Prosecution of the Nation 2667-2024-MP-FN on November 20, 2024, defines the instructions and procedures of the official spokesperson, as well as the limits of the authorization for prosecutors to give money to the media.
The goal is to guarantee “clear, accurate and relevant institutional communication, which contributes to strengthening the institutional image and reputation, in accordance with the legislation that defines the duty of discretion and confidentiality of the investigation”.
“In this sense, you are encouraged from now on to respect the provisions of the aforementioned internal regulation”, stated official José Domingo Pérez in the document, which bears the date of December 27, 2024.
As recalled, last December the Constitutional Court (KT) ordered the prosecution to make public the effective cooperation agreement signed in 2019 with the construction company. The TC declared established a constitutional complaint filed by television host Phillip Butters “for the violation of the fundamental right of access to public information.”
