Congressmen from various groups formally filed the no-confidence motion against the Congress president, Eduardo Saljuana (APP), whose management has been questioned for not reacting adequately to the investigation of an alleged network of pimps linked to the former head of the Legal Council, Jorge Torres Saravia.
The motion has the signatures of 20 deputies led by Jorge Montoya and other members of Honor and Democracy, who had already announced that they were collecting signatures to promote this measure against Saljuana.
Members of Renovación Popular, Popular Democratic Bloc, Socialist Bank, Edward Málaga of Avanza País and Carlos Zeballos as a non-group support the document.
Agenda Motion 15442 ensures that Salhuana Cavides suffered a “Serious breach of duties” for not taking action to deal with what they call a “Crisis Morality” due to the scandal caused by reports of an alleged network of pimps and irregular hiring of parliamentary staff.
Specifically, they accuse the head of the Assembly of “negligently taking measures in time to deal with the serious moral crisis related to the scandal related to the alleged actions of pimps and the irregular employment of parliamentary service personnel”.
They claim that all this has irreparably damaged the prestige and honor of the Legislature Branch, in addition to affecting the dignity of Peruvian women and allegedly costing the life of a former parliamentary employee. This, in relation to the murder of Andrea Vidal at the hands of assassins in La Victoria in December 2024.
“This situation has been aggravated by the recent trip of the President of the Congress of the Republic on his visit to the People’s Republic of China (…) leaving the national Parliament in one of its worst crises and uncertainty.”supports the movement.
