Entering the social networks of Dr. Paulo Bonavides is a direct path to find exciting, charismatic and loving stories. His patients have fun and laugh in moments that for many are full of tension and fear, because “Uncle Paulo”, as they call him, brings the imagination of an enchanted world to the little ones who come to him.
The professional, a graduate of Dentistry at Unisanta, graduated in 2012 and has since gained many followers and patients who lovingly look to him for humanized care. He specializes in achieving the best smiles and therefore the best laughs.
Among his impressive CV with a specialization in Pediatric Dentistry, a postgraduate diploma in Special Patients and a master’s degree in Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Paulo has around 8.5 million followers on social networks and is the artistic director of shows at Hora de Brincar – a venture.
From the student to the teacher
His passion for Pediatric Dentistry began in college, his TCC together with a colleague was created from the idea of how to care for a patient with autism who had great difficulty letting professionals approach: wearing a clown costume. And to everyone’s surprise, the patient loved being treated in this calm and safe way. Since then, on several commemorative dates such as Christmas, Easter or Children’s Day, the characters of the Hora de Brincar program have gone to the PNE (Patients with Special Needs) clinic to provide the care that every child deserves. “At first I dress up as a clown, as a technique that ultimately didn’t work for safety reasons, except that the child was at risk of going to the circus and thinking that the clown would be the same and she would have to have anesthesia, I knew I could improve this, so instead of being a clown, why not be his friend and bring these characters as a prize? But today I became the main character, even though I am the friend of the clown, of Ariel, of the superhero. The big fans who come to my office come for “Uncle Paulo”.
12 years as a professional, 10 years as a professor at the University: “I’ve been at home for 12 years and I usually say that I’m very proud of this family, and people even ask me: “Wow, but you’re famous and you teach?”. I teach because I love what I do and I love sharing what I do, the classroom ends up being my real stage.”
Exclusive patient list
The differentiated service has gone so viral that even celebrities bring their children to consult with Tio Paulo. But to see the smile on the faces of the children and those who are fans of a desist, which unfortunately throughout his life it was called the profession of fear, of panic, where people cried, and today they come happy, wanting to meet Uncle Paulo, it’s a lot of fun, it makes me very happy.”
