The ‘scorpion’ play that René Higuita made famous in a match between the Colombian national team against England at the legendary Wembley Stadium in 1995 marked an entire generation. who grew up watching this incredible maneuver over and over again. In fact, almost 30 years later, a talented dentist was encouraged to recreate the epic game in a life-size sculpture and won all the praise from the keeper.

The man who dared to repeat the historic game was William Restrepo, a football lover who, despite being a fan of Independiente Medellín, paid tribute to René Higuita, one of Atlético Nacional’s biggest idols.
Restrepo used his free time and some elements he uses in his profession to create a miniature statue of ‘The Scorpion’, but it turned out so beautiful that his wife encouraged him to reproduce it in life size (1.82 meters tall and 120 kilograms in weight) and the result was better than expected. Such a sculpture reached the ears of the former football player himself, who was so amazed by the wonderful work of the dentist that he said it was a work of art and thanked him profusely for this honor:
“Don William, good morning, I greet you from this side René Higuita to thank you for that beautiful detail that remains not only in my memory, but in the memory of all Colombians and the world that sees. such a beautiful piece of art. Sending you a big hug full of peace, love, happiness and a very special thank you and thank you, thank you so much for that beautiful sculpture“the former goalkeeper of the Colombian team told him.
