Today the exhibition was inaugurated at Disseny Hub Barcelona “How to Design a Revolution: Chilean Road to Design”A sample that joins more than 250 pieces of graphic and industrial design created in Chile between 1970 and 1973, during the government of Salvador Allende.

Organized by the LA Monda Cultural Center (CCLM) along with the Catalan institutions, the exhibition marks a new international moment for the drafting of Latin America, in the context of
20 years of CCLM.

The exhibition had its premiere at Santiago De Kili in 2023, where it was visited by More than 40,000 people. Now it is first presented to Europe with a functional reconstruction of the Internet Operations Chamber, cyber icons applied to industrial management.

The exhibition occupies more than 600 m² and is available in Catalonian, Spanish and English. It collects posters, discs, books, toys, signage and industrial products that addressed social challenges such as child malnutrition, writing, public health and technological independence.

“This design was not for Elite, but for everyday life. It was collective, accessible, popular and with a transformative profession,” says curators Hugo Palmarola, Eden Medina and Pedro Ignacio Alonso.

“How to design a revolution” is based on a MIT investigation (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and Catholic Pontifical University, and has the support of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Chile.

Moreover, a homonymous book edited by Lars Müller Publishers (Switzerland) has been published, with more than 400 specialized images and texts in Spanish and English.

“Fifty -two years after the coup in Chile, the exhibition of how to design a revolution in Barcelona, ​​connects to the La Monda Cultural Center, which will soon return to its opening profession to the cultures of the world, with one of the most prominent museums of a European city,” they say from CCLM. And they add that CCLM “seeks to consolidate as a national and international cultural reference, which contributes to building a better society by promoting artistic and creative development and impulse of empathy, tolerance and critical thinking.”

Signaling systems have been added to the United Nations events and visual identity for PAN Games, also the editorial model for books and magazines of the Quimantú state publications house, which published more than 11 million copies with the aim of redistributing knowledge.

About Industrial design, exhibition presents products and photographs of children’s kindergartens and social housing, agricultural machinery, heads, calculators, didactic toys, dishes and televisions, projects developed mainly from the industrial design area of ​​the Chile Technological Research Committee. Inside these highlight the design of powdered milk spoons to combat malnutrition and mortality of infants.

In the field of cybernetics, the project for innovative Operation room Cyberyn led to interdisciplinary work between industrial design, graphic design and engineering. On the other hand, Cyberyn included interface design and visualization of pioneer data in Latin America. How to design a revolution also underlines the design work done by women, barely visible to date, who make important creations.
