Sapun Dental is widely open for business
Dr. Bob Cheng has been practicing dentistry in the Boston area for about 10 years, and when he recently looked for a location for his office near the city, Natick stood out for its “very positive vibe,” he says.
“It has a very vibrant community with a variety of events. The Saturday farmer’s market, music shows, and many different cultural and unique events that other cities don’t offer,” he says. “Since I’ve been here, the city has become more vibrant and continues to grow, and so have I. I really want to be part of this process!”
This has become a reality with the opening of Soap Dental at 7A Middlesex Ave. in Natick.
Why soap?
“Soap is a memory used in the healthcare field to write our notes. It stands for ‘subjective, objective, assessment and plan,’ says Cheng. “I wanted a fun name for the office and at the same time it’s a constant reminder for me to systematically create a diagnosis and treatment plan without missing anything. And fun fact: soap was used to make toothpaste until the 1940s.
Cheng is the only dentist in the office, and that will allow him to really get to know his adult and child patients, he says. His approach is to address immediate needs and tailor a plan to the patient’s oral health goals.
He admits that dental visits can be overwhelming when patients are interested in all the latest treatments and options. Among its key new technologies are 3D X-ray scanners, digital mouth scanners (“no more messy impressions!”) and electric handpieces that generate less noise and take less time for fillings.

The anthology is waiting for the wonderful grand opening
Natick Senior Living Facility Anthology on Rte. 135 in Natick opened over the summer, but held its official grand opening last week, complete with a harpist, fine dining and valet parking. Plus a ribbon cutting for the 86-unit assisted living and memory care complex. Although the place has only been open a few months, a sense of community was everywhere.
In the wonderful dining room we enjoyed a chef prepared meal with a friend who is thinking of moving soon. In the common room, was our friend Bunco and her very happy parents, who were two of the first to call Anthology home. We spotted some Natick movers and shakers who attended to be able to say they’ve been there…and maybe with an eye toward the future. As for us, we’re ready to move in now—but we’ll need to save for a few more years to afford the monthly payments.
Anthology offered indoor and outdoor tours during the event as well.
