New children's dental clinic opens in southern Wake County

FUQUAY VARINA, NC (WTVD) — A new children’s dental clinic is now open in southern Wake County.

The Reginal Smiles program is designed to help increase access to health care in underserved areas.

Children can receive free monthly dental care at the new clinic inside the Southern Regional Center in Fuquay-Varina. Services available include dental exams, teeth cleanings, x-rays and fluoride applications for those who do not have insurance and are under the age of 20.

“Poor oral health is linked to chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease, so by teaching children the importance of taking care of their smiles when they are young, as well as providing them with the necessary access to care, we can ensure that they are entitled to a healthy lifestyle as they grow up,” Susan Evans, vice chairwoman of the Wake County Board of Commissioners, said in a release.

Regional Smiles is available by appointment only Monday – Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm
