The Federal Council of Dentistry wants to “export” Brazilian dentists

O Federal Council of Dentistry will launch this week a project for the internationalization of Brazilian dentistry, which aims to promote “Export” of services dental surgeons for different countries, such as US, China AND KINGDOM Unido.

The initiative also aims to encourage international tourism so that foreigners can undergo treatments in the country and encourage dentists of other nationalities to come and attend specialization courses in Brazil.

The launch of the project will take place during the 41st International Congress of Dentistry in São Paulo, which starts this Wednesday and ends next Saturday, with 100,000 participants expected.

“Brazilian dentistry is internationally recognized, but we still have bureaucratic obstacles for the work of professionals from our country to be officially accepted outside our borders. Currently, in the professional sphere, we can already operate in Portugal and in the academic sphere we have a cooperation agreement with Peru, but we want to advance much further, as we have sufficient and qualified workforce to, on the one hand, offer to qualified. Brazilian professionals and, on the other hand, another, waiting for colleagues from other countries to officially specialize in our country”, explains Juliano do Vale, president of the CFO.

The project will also initially prioritize Canada, the United Arab Emirates and other countries in Europe and Latin America. In January, Brazil reached a record number of 400,000 registered dental surgeons.

The council will launch a series of international missions in the coming months, starting in Dubai and China, meeting with entities representing dentists in these countries to sign agreements. Preliminary visits have been made to the United Kingdom, Dubai, Germany and the United States in 2023, and negotiations are expected to progress this year.

Another focus of the campaign, the promotion of international dental tourism, has as an advantage an assessment by the CFO that, in Brazil, more complex treatments, such as implants, restorations and aesthetic procedures, can cost up to 20% of the value in countries like the US.
