Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elmer Schialerassured that four Peruvians were kidnapped from the regime of Nicolas Maduro after being arrested between September and October 2024 in Venezuela. He explained that the surnames of the compatriots are Huamanchumo, Cubas, Malásquez and Mendizával.
“We don’t know what vulnerable conditions they’re in. We don’t even know where they are. If they’re in Caracas, in this big building called El Helicoide or if they’re in another part of Venezuela. We don’t I know, I know,” said the chancellor.
In an interview for the program Clear Accounts e Channel NSchialer assured that they sought information about the four Peruvians through official and diplomatic channels maintained with the Brazilian embassy in Venezuela.
He warned that at least 80 thousand other compatriots are completely unprotected in a foreign country.
“We have also spoken to other friendly embassies, international aid organizations and the church to find these Peruvians, but they don’t give us a reason,” he said.
The Peruvian foreign minister assured that the countrymen, all men between 30 and 40 years old, are included in a larger group of foreigners accused “without evidence, of conspiracy” against the regime of Nicolás Maduro.
It is necessary to note that, a few minutes ago, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a statement in which it condemned the acts of repression, persecution, arbitrary detentions and kidnappings carried out by the regime of Nicolás Maduro against Venezuelan political opponents, their families, as well as foreign citizens.
“These acts not only violate basic human rights, but also represent a direct attack on democratic values. Demanding the immediate cessation of these practices that are against human life and dignity, the Government of Peru demands the immediate release of all people arrested arbitrarily,” the statement said.
Finally, Foreign Minister Elmer Schialer explained the reason for Peru’s recent recognition of Edmundo González as president-elect of Venezuela.
“We were asking for the record to be supported (…) Torre Tagle did not doubt (that Maduro is a dictator),” he told Canal N.
