In the last few hours, a suspected WhatsApp chat circulated on social media showing that FARC dissidents had kidnapped Juan Carlos Bayter Bustamante, a dentist from El Banco, Magdalena.
However, this information was denied by Alfonso Bayter, the father of the dentist, who assured that until now they have not received any information about the status and location of their son “they have not contacted us, we do not know”. He also added that “he is a malicious journalist from here who published that conversation, this is fake”.
The Bayter family, relatives and the community, with the support of a priest, held a vigil Wednesday night to demand Juan Carlos’ release. This meeting was held at their home.
According to the first versions, the kidnapping happened around 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, when the health professional was leaving his home in the Pueblo Nuevo neighborhood, in El Banco, and was surprised by men who forced him to leave his home. his. vehicle and then got into Plato’s white van.
The vehicle in which Juan Carlos was taken apparently burned in a nearby rural area on the road leading from El Banco to Chimichagua.
For their part, the National Police, the Judicial Police and the intelligence and Gaula began an intensive search by helicopter, on land and water where they had controls at the various exits and entrances of the municipality of El Banco. Likewise, the authorities gave to capture those responsible for the kidnapping of the dentist, south of Magdalena and in neighboring departments such as Cesar and Bolívar.
Bayter is the owner of the NovaClinik clinic and his father, Alfonso Bayter, is the manager of the Previsalud clinic in that municipality.
