A minibus remains on public roads for more than 12 hours after it caught fire with passengers on board, on Pastor Sevilla and Jorge Chavez streets, in Villa El Salvador.
According to county security cameras, three subjects got out of the vehicle after an apparent crash. Then an explosion was heard and the van caught fire leaving it completely burnt.
The incident happened yesterday evening, January 4, and the van is still at the scene, surrounded by cones and guarded by a PNP agent.
Edison Condori, a resident of the area, asked the authorities to remove the vehicle, as it causes congestion at the intersection where buses, motorbike taxis and cars pass.
“When I come I see a lot of police and firemen. They have surrounded this whole area. And the most surprising thing is that they don’t take that car with a tow truck because it actually blocks the traffic. There have already been collisions before and this undermines the rules of transport. And in case of emergency the firemen come or someone wants to pass. There is a hospital here. All legal authorities, experts, who come to investigate“, declared RPP.
In addition, a passenger suffered burns and was therefore taken to a nearby hospital, according to police sources, who will determine whether the explosion occurred due to a vehicle failure or an extortion attack.
