The Public Ministry drew attention to the prosecutor José Domingo Pérez for not respecting the rules of the spokesperson established by the Prosecutor of the Nation, Delia Espinoza, when giving statements on a specialized internet portal.
Pérez gave an interview to the LP Derecho website on December 21, clarifying that he was not testifying as a prosecutor, but as a teacher and lawyer.
However, Secretary General Ana María Velarde sent a letter to Lava Jato’s special team member asking him to comply with the administrative order authorizing only spokesman Víctor Cubas to speak to the press.
“The aforementioned regulatory document defines the instructions and procedures of the official spokesperson, as well as the limits of authorization for prosecutors to give statements and appear before the media, to guarantee clear, accurate and relevant institutional communication that contributes to strengthening the image and institutional reputation”, says the accessed document Peru21.
As is known, the Constitutional Court ordered to make public the effective cooperation agreement signed between the Prosecutor’s Office and Odebrecht in 2019.
The decision raised questions for the prosecutors of the special team, led by Rafael Vela, for keeping the document of more than a thousand pages confidential.
