Vehicle speed kills Mohali dentist: The Tribune India

A Mohali-based dentist, Lakhwinder Singh, succumbed to injuries he sustained when the cycle he was traveling on was hit by a speeding auto-rickshaw near the Sector 16-17 traffic light on September 11.

Now a video has emerged of the auto-rickshaw hitting the two cyclists from behind. The two cyclists, residents of Phase 3B2, Lakhwinder Singh and Satyajit Kundra, were thrown into the air.

The duo was returning from Sukhna Lake around 7:30 am. Around seven to eight passengers in the car were also injured. As the car overturned and landed on Lakhwinder, his friend fell on his side after being hit. He suffered minor injuries.

The victims were urgently sent to GMSH-16. Later, Lakhwinder was shifted to a private hospital in Mohali. He died on September 28.

The driver of the car, Sonu, a resident of Bhainsa Tibba, near Panchkula, fled the spot after the accident but was arrested the next day.

A case under Articles 279, 337 of the Criminal Code was registered at the Sector 17 Police Station. He was later released on bail. After Lakhwinder’s death, Section 304-A of the IPC was added to the case.
