No more holidays in Peru? Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPP), Daniel Maurateindicated that his sector is evaluating the reduction of the number of public holidays in the country. This measure arises due to concern about the impact that this type of non-working days in productivity.
The government appreciates the reduction of vacations in Peru
According to the management, this proposal will be discussed in National Labor Council (CNT), which consists of representatives of the government, employers and workers. According to him MTPE holderthis would be aimed at discussing the matter with the parties involved and reaching an agreement that allows impartial decisions to be made.
“The agenda of the CNT does not depend on the minister, but on the agreement between employers, workers and the Government. Our intention is that this matter be accepted for discussion in the next session”, said the minister.
However, Maurate emphasized that so far the number of holidays that will be reduced have not been determined, nor the parameters that would be used to decide the measure. It should be noted that this evaluation was carried out in accordance with the policies for improve productivity of the country, in search of generating more formal and optimal employment working conditions.

By 2025, the Peruvian government established a total of 16 holidayswhich will commemorate very important days for the country, starting with the New Year and ending with Christmas party.
